Welcome Back Bowie Bobcats!
My name is Jaymie Galan and I am thrilled to serve as Principal at Bowie Elementary.
As well as being an educator, I am also a wife and mother- Omar my husband of 13 years, Omar Jr., Sophia, and Noah. I am beyond blessed to have such a supportive and loving family.
Education has always been a passion of mine. Ever since I was a little girl, I would play school- I had my little green chalk board, I would sit all of my stuffed animals in a row right next to my little brother, he didn’t like it very much. Needless to say, I always knew that I wanted to be a teacher and make a difference in a child’s life. I believe that all children can learn! I also believe that all children learn differently. It is our duty to build relationships with our students- make them feel cared for, and ensure that we are teaching the way they learn. No child should ever be left behind!
A little bit about my back ground…
My career in education began in McAllen as a 4th grade bilingual teacher. I got married, relocated to La Feria and thus began my service in Weslaco ISD as a 3rd and 4th grade bilingual teacher. After having received my masters in Bilingual Education with my Principal certification from UTPA, my hope was to impact students not just in my classroom but the entire campus. In 2011, the late Mrs. Montemayor, principal at Zavala Elementary, here in Harlingen, took a chance on me and hired me as the Instructional coach. 3 years later I had wonderful opportunity to serve the staff and students at Treasure Hills Elementary as Assistant Principal. Where I served for 5 years.
This year our Theme at Bowie is TEAM-Together Educating, Always Motivating! As a parent, you are your child’s first teacher and we value your participation on our Bobcat Team. Together, we can support, nurture, and develop lifelong learners!
I encourage you to become a member of the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and/or volunteer in our Parent Center.
